Vaping to Quit Smoking Traditional Cigarettes? The Top 6 Things You Need to Know

Over half of all vapers started using e-Cigarettes to quit traditional combustible cigarettes. And many other smokers use vaping to cutdown on their traditional cigarettes while they continue to smoke.

Here is what you need to know about vaping to stop cigarettes.

1- Have you decided to vape e-Cigarettes to quit tobacco? If you’ve already starting vaping but still smoke and want to quit cigarettes...It is best to stop your cigarettes right now, without delay. The evidence is clear, vapers who quit smoking completely are more successful.

2- Which is better for you, flavored or unflavored e-cig “juice”? While e-cig flavors can make your vaping more pleasurable, it is healthier and safer to vape unflavored e-cig “juice”. But a more pleasurable vaping experience might make your switching more successful. Try unflavored e-juice first and see if that satisfies.

3- Still craving cigarettes while vaping? In   that case you are probably not getting enough nicotine from your e-cigs. MyNicotineTest will help you to customize your nicotine levels to accurately meet your needs. It’s important to know your nicotine number.

4- How do you “feel” vaping? Your goal is to “feel normal”without cigarettes. If you “miss” your smokes try using 4mg nicotine gum or 4 mg mini-Lozenges. If you constantly crave cigarettes, 21 milligram or 14 milligram nicotine patches added to your e-cigarette plan can help you accomplish your goal. Medical research shows adding these FDA approved nicotine replacement meds can help. MyNicotineTest measures your nicotine level putting you in control so... Know your nicotine number.

If you can measure it,  you can change it.

5- Did you know not all e-cigarettes are created equal? Some e-cigarettes and e-cig “juice” deliver much less nicotine than others. Measuring your personal nicotine levels allow you to approach your quit tobacco efforts scientifically. MyNicotineTest helps you customize your vaping experience and puts you in control.

6- The nicotine delivered for your vaping also depends on your type of e- cigarette (open, closed, tanks, pods), and the e-cig device generation you use (earlier versus current). Nicotine delivery also varies with the experience or inexperience of the vaper. Experienced vapers are able to consume more nicotine during a vaping session that inexperienced vapers.

Here’s the Rest of the Story

E-cigarettes have long been pitched as a healthier alternative to cigarettes. The promise, in theory, is that they can help smokers kick the addiction by delivering nicotine without many of the dangerous byproducts of combustible tobacco products.

There’s plenty of debate in the scientific community as to whether that’s actually true. For every study that suggests e-cigarettes can help smokers quit, there’s another that says they can’t. My Nicotine Test can help ensure your greatest chances for success.

In one study in England, 886 participants who smoked cigarettes, using of e- cigarettes almost doubled the rate of cigarette abstinence at 1 year compared with nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). Quit rates were 18.0% for vaping vs 10% for standard nicotine replacement.

In another study from New Zealand, over 1,100 cigarette smokers, added an e-cigarette to their NRT . This more than tripled quit rates compared with just the NRT alone.

However, the e-cigarette story has mixed conclusions. For one example, Dr. Mitchell Katz, deputy editor of JAMA Internal Medicine has written: “Unfortunately, the evidence on whether e- cigarettes help smokers to quit is contradictory and inconclusive.”

There are many reasons why vaping has mixed results in helping smokers quit.

Take a look at the graphs below from the medical journal Psychopharmacology. In this first graph, you can see that the Juul sold in the United States (represented by the dashed line where the dashes are close together) delivers more nicotine faster than a smoked cigarette (represented by a solid line). At the 2-minute mark, Juul US delivered about 20 ng/mL (nanograms per milliliter) while a smoked cigarette delivered about 13 ng/mL. The Juul available in the European Union delivered only about 3 ng/mL. More nicotine and faster nicotine decreases smoking urges and other tobacco withdrawal symptoms which may help Juul vapers in the United States quit traditional cigarettes.

Pharmacokinetics studies the speed that a drug enters and leaves the body. These graphs demonstrate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of the nicotine levels from both Juul in the United States (US) and European Union (EU) compared to the users’ own cigarette.

A smaller group of test subjects used both Juul US and Juul EU and also Vuse, refillable e-Cigarettes and Cig-a-likes. Here too, Juul US delivered more than twice the amount of nicotine than these other products.

Juul US also received higher user ratings than the other e-Cigarettes.

So the question for you is: How much nicotine am I consuming? Know your nicotine number.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

KNOW YOUR NICOTINE NUMBER

While this has not been conclusively proven, these findings might mean that Juul in the US (and other high nicotine delivery e-cigarettes) may be more effective than other e-cigarettes in helping smokers to quit smoking but, at the same time, Juul could also have greater addictive potential. Knowing accurately how much nicotine you are actually consuming when smoking and when vaping means you can make scientifically-based decisions to reach your goal- comfortably and successfully.  MyNicotineTest.com is here to help

Nicotine users can also titrate or customize their nicotine intake by altering the frequency of puffing and depth and speed of inhalation. It is thus possible that the lower of other e- cigarettes could still provide the nicotine levels that smokers seek. The only way to be sure is to scientifically measure your personal nicotine consumption.
